Welcome to CommunityCampaigns.net - AdvoKit Hosting and Support for people-powered campaigns

AdvoKit is an open-source web applicaton originally developed in 2004 to enable citizens to organize and get out the vote for the presidential elections. The owner-founder of CommunityCampaigns.net, was the driving force and principle designer of AdvoKit. No one knows community-based people-powered campaigning and AdvoKit better than we do!

What is AdvoKit?
AdvoKit is a database-driven web application that provides online tools to support best practices of traditional Supporter Identification and GOTV campaigning, combined with the power of social networks and friend-to-friend outreach. You will create teams and assign leaders to manage your far-flung activists, who can in turn log into AdvoKit to create contact lists and record their interactions with your electorate. As a campaign leader, you can manage the progress of your campaign from any internet-connected computer. Since it is typically be used by volunteers working from their homes, the cost to run a campaign can be very low.

What is "Friend to Friend?"
In a typical outreach effort, contact lists are automatically generated and distributed to activists who will, for the most part, be calling or knocking on the doors of strangers to ask them to support a candidate or cause. In a Friend to Friend approach, your activists are asked to log into AdvoKit and create their own contact lists of people they know and are comfortable talking to. (AdvoKit can also generate contact lists automatically using detailed targeting criteria.) Friend to friend outreach has been shown to be five to ten times more effective at identifying supporters, per contact, than targeted phone banking, and twice as effective as neighbor to neighbor outreach. The secret to AdvoKit is its ability to recruit, manage and effectively utilize large numbers of volunteers - all performing high-yield friend to friend outreach within their communities.

What kinds of campaigns use AdvoKit?
The uses of AdvoKit are limited only by your imagination. However at CommunityCampaigns we devote our attention primarily to supporting smaller community-based campaigns where friend to friend outreach is most effective, including:

  • Local electoral races: mayor, city council, state legislature
  • Local ballot initiatives
  • School bond issues, tax levies
  • Town meeting mobilization

An emphasis on returning to traditional field campaigning -- voter registration, get-out-the-vote operations and human-to-human interaction -- and the use of technology, combined with imagination, is leading Americans to a rediscovery of their political roots -- their grass roots.
